Senior Instrument/Control Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Basic Function:
• This position will provide Instrument and Controls Engineering support in during detailed engineering of the various project packages. Provide Engineering support to the Operations Team Leaders and the Shah Operations team during the project EPC and Startup Phases to ensure operational readiness. Will be responsible for coordinating Instrument and Controls Engineering in preparation for operations activities. Upon completion of the project, this position may assume responsibility for the Instrument and Controls Engineering for the Shah Sour Gas Plant and Pipeline Systems.
Work Performed:
The key responsibilities of this position include:
• Meet regularly and maintain good working relationships with the Instrument and Controls Engineers in the EPC Contractor organizations
• Supports and works the Operability Assurance plan and program to achieve readiness for operations and proper project input.
• Deals Primarily with the following systems:
- Emergency Shutdown (ESD)
- Fire and Gas (F&G)
- Machine Monitoring
- Tanks Gauging
- Analyzer Network
- Package Control
- Metering
- Field Instrumentation (including transmitters, analyzers, ESD valves, Control valves, F&G devices, etc.)
• Engineering / Construction Activities for the EPC contract
- Site Surveys
- Vendor Lists
- ESD Architecture
- F&G Architecture
- Control Philosophy
- ESD Philosophy
- Material Requisitions
- I/O allocation verification
- Control Room Layout
- Instrument Shelter layout
- Analyzer Shelter layout
- Field Instrument layout

- Review and follow-up of hand-over documentation (e.g. Operations / Maintenance manuals, CMMS data, etc.)
• Operability Assurance Activities during Engineering and Construction
- Ensures standardization across the EPC packages in the development of the various instrument & control systems and processes required for start-up and operations
- Coordinates follow-up actions from I&C portion of the maintenance quality system.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent degree.
• Specialized Instrument and Controls Engineering experience.
• Experience in preparation for operations in projects.
• Experience in onshore remote/desert operations.
• Experience in H2S operations.
• Proven and strong interpersonal, influence and negotiation skills.
• Willingness relocate during the engineering and construction phases.
• Self-starter and highly organized individual.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with and influence at different levels of the organization.
