Senior Subsea Pipeline Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Basic Function:
• Direct & supervise a team of pipeline engineers providing expertise and ensures the application of correct standards in the design and development of projects associated with gas processing, production and export.
• Responsible for design, construction, materials requisitioning, and construction of pipelines and related facilities including supervision of inspectors and contractors during construction and start-up.
Work Performed:
• Review and approve hydraulic studies, wall thickness and stress analysis reports. To establish preliminary Pipeline route alignments and carry out necessary Co-ordination with local authorities for its approval. Supervise the design works of Consultants/engineering Contractors and EPC Contractor. Review/ approve drawings, specifications and other technical documents for Pipeline Engineering for all types of projects.
• To supervise the work of EPC Contractor specialists and ensure that quality and standards are maintained and cost effective solutions are adopted. Participate in review / audit of Contractor’s construction work, witness pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
• To review Inspection and Test Plans and participate in Pre-Inspection meetings with Vendors to ensure all technical issues are resolved and quality/inspection plans are finalized to achieve the Project Quality and schedule delivery requirements. Carry out review /approve Contractors /Sub Contractors Method Statements of important and critical work activities.
• To review bidders list and bid documents for contract/purchase for items relating to pipelines engineering. Carry out Technical Evaluation/Recommendation for tenders/bids and approves selection of pipeline items. Review and Approve Material Approval Requests for items to be purchased by Construction Contractors. Review and recommend for Management approval Project Deviation Request from Vendor/Contractor/Engineer.
• To participate in Project HAZOPS.
• Ensures cost-effective solutions and application of value added engineering throughout the duration of projects.
• To attend weekly progress review meetings with Consultants and Contractors to identify and resolve areas of concerns.
• To carry out Technical review of Contractor Trend Notices and prepare Technical Position papers. Participate in meetings with Contractors on issues related with Trend Notices to clarify and defend Company position.
• Fully understands the company HSE policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility. Ensures that work under his control is performed in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
• Follow up with the EPC contractor the construction planning and progress on daily basis.
• Provide on-site pipeline engineering consultation during construction, pre-commissioning & commissioning stage.
• Participates in the training & development of assigned UAE national employees in the project.
• Performs additional work activities as directed by line manager.
Minimum Requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10-15 years post graduate experience in design & development of capital projects in the oil/gas industry at senior level.
• Work effectively with peers in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Good command of written and spoken English.
