Analyzer Maintenance Technician
Location: Ruwais, UAE
Basic Function:
• Carries out the skilled installation, maintenance, calibration and repair of variety of electrical, electronic and microprocessor based analyzer instrumentation, process sample conditioning systems, distribution control system (DCS), laboratory analytical instruments and related instrument equipment in the plant.
Task:
• Receives work assignments from supervisor with comments or required work, examines faulty analyzer equipment to determine work scope and requirement, obtains necessary tools and spare parts and proceeds to worksite to carry out the job.
• Carries out skilled analyzer instruments fault finding, diagnosis and defect repair of electrical, electronic and micro-processor based analyzer instruments. Includes carrying out fault finding on microprocessor based systems, changing PCBs, reloading programs on the system and re-starting system to ensure the repair has been successful.
• Repairs electronic cards by replacing components and chips in the repair shop, measuring voltage and checking field operation through calibration of the system.
• Interprets logic diagrams to locate and rectify faults.
• Overhauls various electrical and electronic analyzer instruments such as CEM analyzers, FTIR, TOP NIR, CO2, H2S, Air Demand, Oxygen, Hydrogen, pH, Conductivity, Dissolved oxygen, distillation, Viscosity, cloud Point, Freeze Point, Moisture, Density etc.
• Carries out the routing, predictive and preventive maintenance checks on analyzers and associated systems in any area of the assigned plant. Includes checking for leakages on impulse lines, sample conditioning system, checking for malfunctions, checking electronic control systems related to analyzers, testing equipment and carrying out visual daily checks on field analyzer instruments for damage or malfunctions.
• Checks control loop and package unit analyzer systems.
• Checks and repairs various laboratory analyzer instruments either according to prescribed schedules or based on defect reports.
• Interprets manuals taking into account the physics of the operation to troubleshoot problems, replaces PCBs, valves and displays and recalibrates equipment upon completion of the work.
Document:
• Registers job carried out and fills in necessary records upon completion of job, detailing spare parts, materials and manpower utilized for subsequent cost assignment by the Engineer.
• Maintains records of equipment repairs carried out and draws the attention of Supervisor to the need for replenishment of spare parts and materials as required.
• Assists Engineer in preparing basic data for annual budget requirements of manpower/materials.
Minimum Requirements:
• Completion of Technical Secondary (12 years) education followed by 2 years Diploma.
• 5 years’ experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic and microprocessor based analyzer instrument systems in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
• Fair knowledge of English language.
