CBDC Day Supervisor - Jetty
Location: Ruwais, UAE
Basic Function:
• Supervises and coordinates at operational level, the receipt of hazardous waste, sorting and treatment process of the received waste, including pre-treatment, mercury distillation, physical/chemical treatment, recycling, oil/water separation, landfill and the operation of common facilities at the Central Environment Protection Facility, BeAAT Plant in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the treatment and disposal of diversified hazardous waste meeting specified target limits.
• Liaises with all waste producers of OPCOs, Production Accountant and Process Engineer over scheduling of waste delivery/reception and treatment.
• Coordinates periodic checks.
• Adjustments and maintains follow up on all maintenance activities in BeAAT plant operating areas.
• Supervises plant start-ups, shutdown and emergencies as per the established operating procedures.
• Complies with Company HSEMS manual assignments and responsibilities, identifies potential problems in his area and corrects as appropriate.
Work Performed:
• Supervises and coordinates the activities of all treatment facilities operations, maintenance, Safety and fire personnel within BeAAT plant operating areas on general shift/day duty basis.
• Performs supervisory functions at the level established by management for the position.
• Completes supervisor log book and other work reports noting state of operating plants, corrective action taken and highlighting other items of plant that need further attention.
• Receives hazardous waste delivered to BeAAT plant, coordinates operation of the receiving area and ensures proper monitoring of incoming waste, guides sorting/storing/treatment process and setting schedule and procedures for incineration, land filling, recycling and safe disposal of treated waste.
• Reviews operating data, monitors general operational or maintenance activities in the plant, and establishes status of activities on daily basis.
• Participates in critical operating procedures in BeAAT operating areas to provide control and coordination, which includes start-up, and shutdown, commissioning and testing of new equipment and dealing with any emergency situation which may arise according to correct procedures.
• Conducts daily check up tours of all BeAAT plant operating units to ensure smooth running and to ensure that all auxiliary equipment such as rotating and stationary equipment (i.e. pumps, compressors, incinerator, vessels, air coolers, heat exchangers, instruments etc) are in good operating condition.
• Ensures the safe custody of all Company assets under his responsibility.
• Controls and coordinates shutdown and start-up operations with BeAAT plant shift staff. Includes reviewing DCS data and directing site operations to start-up units in proper sequence and at correct manner to avoid damage to equipment or personnel
• Reviews laboratory test results to ensure that specifications target limits are met and arranges for adjustments to be carried out to maintain quality standards.
• Reviews and monitors the operating data relating to the waste handling /disposal and the operation of various operating equipment. Includes discussing activities with subordinates and highlighting anomalies for corrective action to be taken
• Initiates maintenance requests for all routine repairs.
• Monitors maintenance work carried out on operating units and directs the preparation of units for start-up or shutdown.
• Assists in planning major maintenance requirements and undertakes supervision of crews performing maintenance or repair works.
• Issues work, entry and excavation permit in conjunction with safety, environment and fire personnel.
• Ensures compliance by subordinate personnel with all safety, environment and fire regulations, includes the use of protective clothing and equipment.
• Ensures that good housekeeping and job site clean up is practiced throughout the operating area.
• Writes and discusses accident, incident and near miss reports with Section Head and subordinates in order to avoid recurrence.
• Attends departmental HSE subcomtings and ensures safety and plant routine checklists are accomplished and all documents are properly filed.
• Undertakes a daily tour of inspection of operating areas, for recording and remedying deficiencies identified during the tour of inspection.
• Analyses and seeks technical advice from process engineering, safety and environment engineers as necessary for identified / reported substandard conditions or practices and actioning corrections recommended.
• Assists in training of Operators and Developees to safely and efficiently perform their work assignments and prepares on-the-job training programmes.
• Conducts regular simulated emergency checks for his subordinates.
• Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned, such as supervision of minor maintenance jobs carried out by operators, maintaining essential records, writing reports, and recommending modifications or additions to plant and equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
• Degree / Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
• 8 years experience in plant operations.
• Candidate should have Shift / Panel Experience.
• Prior experience working in Jetty Operations is a MUST.
• Candidate should have experience working on Carbon Black / Delayed Coker Operations.
