Senior Operator Coke - Jetty
Location: Ruwais, UAE
Basic Function:
• The purpose of this position is to ensure proper control of loading calcined coke to ships.
• The Control Room Operator will be responsible for operating the conveyor belt, communicating with ship loader operator, ship’s officer and Refinery Shift Controller, keeping accurate and neat paperwork, maintaining correct logs. Interacts on a regular basis with the production crew, silo operator and Marine section.
Work Performed:
• Carry out assigned operational work safely to assigned standards in line with Standard Operating Procedures. (SOP’s).
• Ensure proper control of incoming coke.
• Ensuring the smooth mooring /unmooring operation at the jetty berths while a ship is being berthed or unberthed.
• Fill in the 'ship shore safety checklist' as per International guidelines. Any non-compliance on the part of the ship shall be brought to the notice of the Supervisor immediately.
• Operate, monitor and control his assigned work area through DCS stations safely and efficiently.
• Continuously monitor and inspect coke handling equipment before and during operations to assure adequate coke supply and prevent spillover of coke inside plant.
• Continuous communicating with Ship Loaders of current production plans.
• Receive direction from Supervisor in the daily activities. Troubleshoot problems as required.
• Provide leadership to the loader operators, assign specific tasks and ensure proper maintenance of the coke handling system.
• Serve as a lead member of a coke handling crew.
• Starts and operates belt conveyors, elevator conveyors and feeder conveyor in sequence of local controls on each individual piece of equipment and/or panel board controls.
• Operates by-pass gates on bins loader or outside storage area.
• He must know and understand the entire coke handling systems in the plant.
• Maintain accurate daily records of coke received and loaded.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for environmental impact of the operation.
• Understand and adhere to Occupational Safety and Health rules and regulations as related to plant safety.
• Follow all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Complete all housekeeping assignments, work to improve the condition of the jetty, and work as a team member with a positive attitude.
• Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.
• Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.
• Respond to emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Monitor FAS, Firefighting system and control surveillance system (CCTV).
Minimum Requirements:
• Completion of Technical Secondary (12 years) education followed by 2 years full time training leading to a Diploma in a technical trade.
• 5 - 6 years’ experience in plant operations in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
• Dry cargo handling with conveyor belt experience is a MUST.
