Automation Engineer
Location: Ruwais, UAE
Basic Function:
• Carries out the maintenance and design of new / modified Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including analysing users requirements, preparing DCS logic and specifications and supervising testing and debugging.
• Monitors DCS system performance and recommends improvements thereof.
• Provides support to various plant automation systems such as Advanced process control, Real time database (PI) and plant automation system and network.
• Participates in the commissioning and acceptance testing of newly installed DCS and process computer systems.
Work Performed:
• Analyses users requirements for DCS system, DCS designs logic and programme specifications including testing and debugging.
• Provides daily support to users of Distribution Control System (DCS) based on daily requests received.
• Discusses major modification requirements with Sr. Automation Engineer and implements minor modifications directly.
• Participates in the configuration of graphics, reports and database of DCS, real time database (PI) and plant information system and network.
• Monitors DCS performance and proposes modifications / enhancement and tuning to the hardware, operating systems and communication systems to improve system efficiency and performance.
• Liaises and discuses with Process Engineers, any process related modifications, such as material balance, fuel balance and advanced control and proposes solutions as appropriate from software point of view.
• Participates in the commissioning and acceptance testing of newly installed DCS, Plant automation systems and new releases of systems and application software’s revisions.
• Coordinates with Automation & Information System engineers and vendors on all related issues.
• Participates with Maintenance personnel in diagnosing DCS failures providing solutions as required.
• Monitors the work of external consultants, contractors and engineers involved in the design and maintenance of DCS, PI, APC and plant automation.
• Assists in training engineers, systems users, trainees and developees on the proper use and efficient utilization of DCS, PI and APC.
• Carriers out other similar or related duties, as assigned. Includes maintaining documentation, Implementing necessary maintenance, regeneration and updating of DCS logic, graphic, hardware and software design specification, and assisting Senior Automation Engineer in the preparation of budgets, etc.
Minimum Requirements:
• B.Sc. in Electronics engineering.
• 5 years experience in computer systems design and implementation in an oil / gas or petrochemical industry.
• Candidate should have Yokogawa experience.
