Mechanical Supervisor
Location: Ruwais, UAE

Worked Performed:

Provides advice relating to the modification or installation of mechanical stationary and rotating equipment. This includes liaising with operation personnel to establish requirement, inspecting existing equipment/systems, and providing related cost estimates and general information on mechanical equipment and system as required.
Supervises any in house minor projects. Supervises the testing and commissioning of new or modified equipment and systems.
Participates in and personally carries out the complex installation, repairs and maintenance of a variety of mechanical equipment and systems. This includes work on turbo machinery, gas and heat exchangers, steam turbines, compressors, furnaces, heat exchangers, etc. 
Provides technical advice to subordinates and ensures proper use of tools and test equipment and supervises the maintenance, security and safe operation of all tools.
Inspects, checks and tests completed work for conformity to statutory company regulations and Company HSE Manual guidelines. This includes using various devices to test mechanical systems, checking the installation of complex systems, following up on the installation of equipment and systems as per plans and documents and ensuring that repairs conform to correct methods and safety procedures.
Maintains records of work performed, work in progress, material requisitions and work orders completed and completes and processes paper work related to mechanical work, such as time sheets, materials costs. 
Completes the work orders in computerized Maintenance and Materials Management System (CMMS) with manpower, materials, special resources etc. and passes on this information for updating equipment history cards.
Participates in the planning for and execution of major equipment turnarounds or shutdowns. 
Prepares work lists, reviews requests from operations or technical services personnel and assists in the development of an overall work plan for the shutdown. 
Supervises the removal, stripping, cleaning, repair and reassembly of all major mechanical stationary and rotating equipment included in the overhaul.
Participates in the testing and start up of overhauled equipment.
Inspects the work of maintenance contractors carrying out related work in the plant to ensure compliance with specified terms and conditions. 
Reviews regular reports provided by contractor to assess work progress and status, highlights discrepancies or areas requiring improvement and assists them in resolving problems encountered.
Assists in the preparation of annual lists of spare parts, consumable materials and special tools or test equipment. 
Reviews consumption, discusses inter-changeability with Mechanical Engineer or Sr. Mechanical Engineer as applicable and prepares detailed list of requirements. 
Assists in the receipt of materials and spare parts through the on site inspection of delivered materials and may, as necessary, check the in system operation of alternatively supplied spare parts. 
Provides written reports on material not acceptable and reports to the Sr. Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Engineer as applicable for review.
On specific instructions assists the various contractor for execution of major contracted out jobs such as tank maintenance, major repair, etc.
Arranges the transportation of materials, to site and coordinates with workshop supervisor on the use of heavy equipment, rigging services. 
Machine shop services, valveshop services, fabrication assistance, re-tubing assistance, scaffolding assistance, painting, insulation requirement, etc. 
Arranges equipment testing and/or fitting work to be inspected by technical services.
Identifies specific training needs for national employees undergoing on the job training for the supervisor’s attention. 
Carries out actual training of trainees, developees and other subordinates in the section to improve their skills with a clear objective of career development.
Carries out other similar or related duties as assigned, such as ensuring the observance of safety and fire regulations, that good housekeeping is practised at all times and that material is salvaged and reconditioned wherever possible.
Participate in TQM and HSE systems and conduct daily tool box talk and weekly safety talk with subordinates modifications or additions to plant and equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
8 years experience in the installation, repair, testing and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical equipment, in a Carbon Black or Delayed Coker Plant.
Prior experience working in Carbon Black / Delayed Coker Plant is a MUST.
